![]() ![]() If you want to shoot shotgun games and do some upland game hunting buy a Rem Choked 2 3/4 in cambered field barrel and shot any 2 3/4" length ammunition. The ammunition that you will be able to use will be governed by the chamber of the barrel and by the size of the gas ports in the barrel. You can used any Remington 1100 barrel on a magnum receiver, assuming the gauge is the same. If your 1100 Remington has an M at the end of the serial number it is a magnum receiver. Here's a bit more detail on the suggestions posted previously. I wish they made a 28", because I had to get a 30 and have it shortened. The Steel Shot barrels are pretty nice, with a contour lighter than the original 11-87s. I think they have a lot of non-gun people doing a lot of things now days. ![]() For 25 years it said "shoot only 3" STEEL shells on 2-3/4" receivers". I see Remington has changed the wording on that 3" Steel Shot barrel for the 1100. The 3" Steel Shot barrel is exactly the same as an old 3" Magnum barrel except for the RemChokes. Also, reliable operation with a 3" Magnum barrel with anything less than 2-3/4" Magnum loads can be real iffy. Be advised that when putting a 3" Magnum barrel on a standard receiver it is recommended you only shoot 3" STEEL shotshells, because the heavy lead loads may get the lighter action sleeve going too fast and start slamming the receiver.
